treadmill and stepper

I used to be such a skinny girl during my school days that many of my friends and even my mother used to wonder at times if I would ever put on a little weight. Even after my marriage, I did not add much weight immediately. But in a couple of years, I did.

My husband is an avid tennis player and he encouraged me to try the game too. Soon, I was as much an addict as he was. Once I started playing tennis regularly every day, my appetite improved tremendously and because of my increased intake, I started gradually adding weight. Since I wqas only a housewife, I had plenty of leisure time once my husband left for his business.

But after my daughter was born a couple of years later, I could not play tennis very regularly. It was then that I started becoming almost fat. Though my husband encouraged me to do as much as exercise as possible, I simply was not motivated enough until one day I went along with one of my friends to her gym.

I was quite impressed with the facilities available in the gym and I became a member there too, thanks to my friend.

Initially, I started walking on the treadmill for 15 minutes. I used to feel exhausted by the end of 15 minutes. My husband and friend encouraged me not to give up exercising and hence I pursued pushing myself. But after three months of struggle, I started feeling more at ease with my exercise schedule. I could almost jog on the treadmill for half an hour non stop.

A new machine called the stepper was introduced to my gym and the instructor told me to try it. I was simply amazed at the effect I felt after exercising for twenty minutes on the stepper. From that day on, I have been doing the stepper regularly for twenty to thirty minutes with increasing difficulty and following it with thirty minutes of running on the treadmill.

After this, I do some stretching exercises with mild dumb bells I feel pretty good and I have been able to maintain my weight after reducing it to 62 kilos from almost 80 kilos.

But for my husband and my friend, I would never have succeeded in making myself as fit as I am today. I realize the importance of exercising regularly and have even convinced a few of my friends to join me and enjoy the feeling of being fit.
