These researchers have shown that the cardio exercises significantly reduced total body adiposity as well. This proved true for both white and black, both men and women. The scientists measured BMI or body mass index and total adipose mass with underwater weighing. Abdominal subcutaneous and visceral (the dangerous kind) adipose tissue was measured with computed tomagraphy. At the end of the cardiorespiratory training, individuals who achieved at least moderate fitness showed the most significant belly fat loss (Janssen, Fitness alters the associations of BMI and waist circumference with total and abdominal fat, Obesity Research, March 2004).

Cardio workouts include running, jogging, bicycling, soccer and other active sports, rollerskating, rowing machines, jumping rope, trampolines, and high resistance elliptical machines. Aim for 30 minutes daily and focus on your breathing to work those abdominal muscles better. So, grab your music, put on those walking shoes, and take off!
