Belly Fat Blueberries Research
Multiple benefits Belly fat blueberries research shows that eating blueberries - reduced belly fat (abdominal adiposity),
- lowered blood cholesterol,
- lowered blood triglycerides, and
- improved insulin sensitivity (a biomarker for metabolic syndrome which is associated with diabetes II and heart disease).
Researchers at the University of Michigal Cardiovascular Center found that rats on a high fat diet were protected by the addition of whole blueberry powder compared to controls. Better with low fat diet They also tested eating blueberries with animals on a lowfat diet finding even better results. In addition to less belly fat, better blood lipids and insulin sensitivity, these animals also had lower total body weight, lower total fat mass, and reduced liver mass compared to all the other groups (Seymour, Experimental Biology, April 2009). While these results are considered preliminary, other studies show benefits from anthocyanins from blueberries and strawberries, and initial studies with humans found some insulin metabolism improvements from drinking wild blueberry juice.
Antioxidants and blood pressure Other health benefits of blueberries include reduced blood pressure (Shaughnessy, Diets containing blueberry extract lower blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive stroke-prone rats, Nutr Research February 2009). This fruit is known to be rich in antioxidants as well as being low calorie.
